Would it be possible to pause the "flow" of the video through the recording pipe and redirect it to the screen, then back to recording pipe, etc? I know the flow can only go to one thing at a time, and I don't know the buffer/refresh rate of the camera(24 FPS?), but I was thinking if you could redirect the flow of that "pipe" fast enough you could have the video sent to the recorder, then switch to the screen, the recorder, screen, over and over again as fast as possible.

To reitterate, if the video can record at 24 fps have every 1 out of every 3 frames sent to the screen and the rest video_out to the recorder. it would probably appear choppy, but at least you would have some ViewFinder capabilities.
