Welcome to webOS Internals wiki

This site is for collecting information about the inner workings of webOS, which powers everybody (else)'s favorite smart phone, the Palm Pre. If you add information which you did not discover yourself, please try to give credit to the original researcher. Also, please do not add information that has not been confirmed. This is meant to be a collection of facts, and our site is growing quickly, so organization may sometimes be lacking.

Disclaimer

Enacting any set of instructions from this site has the (remote, but greater than zero) potential to void your warranty. Our intention and the specific design of all instructions is such that you should be able to recover using the webOS Doctor should anything go wrong, and put your Pre back to a state which is indistinguishable from a factory-new Pre, but we give no guarantee. Use any information from this site at your own risk. At the very least, you should be prepared to lose all data on your phone at any time. We cannot tell you what you should do - we provide the information, but it's up to your own sense of personal responsibility to determine what you do with that information. We require you to use the webOS Doctor to put your Pre back to factory condition before contacting Palm or your cellular carrier for service or support.

Note: The section called "Accessing Linux" used to be known as "Rooting your Pre".
See Accessing Linux != "rooting your Pre" for more details.

Please check with others before moving this

It isn't far enough along to be moved to the front page.

Suggestions

☑ There is a lot of white space on the right and left, try to fill that in somehow. --Templarian 23:30, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

→ I tried to mitigate this by reshuffling nav-blocks to a three column layout. --ultraBlack 00:18, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

☑ Edit the CSS for nav-blocks to left-justify page title and description, rather than have it centered apart from its icon. --ultraBlack 00:18, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

→ Done also fixed it so that the page expands correctly and no more page in the template. --Templarian 00:54, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
☑ But the position of the text inside the nav-blocks still depends upon how much text there is. I can't figure out how to left-justify the text inside the nav-block. Notice how the text in one nav-block doesn't vertically line up to the text in one below, with some of them? --ultraBlack 1:00am, 21 July 2009 (GMT)
→ Like that? --Templarian 01:09, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
→ I guess. I can't really see what you did; it still looks pretty much the same to me...maybe a little better. Want me to upload a screenshot? --ultraBlack 1:12am, 21 July 2009 (GMT)
|→ No but get on IRC
|→ I can't right now (just found out my IRC client's free trial expired) but look at http://i30.tinypic.com/bg4svm.png ...sorry for being nit-picky. Btw, do you know of any good free IRC client for Vista that isn't mIRC, XChat (which I was just using), or ChatZilla? :P
I use Pidgin it handles all my IM stuff and IRC. I'm fixing it right now.
Ahh, I've used Pidgin but have since then switched to Digsby. Sorry about the long, drawn-out chat here. I'm going to try to solve my IRC issues and get back to you. Thanks for the chat though. ;-)
